3 Mistakes To Avoid On Your Wedding Day

From the moment you get engaged, the whirlwind of wedding planning seems endless, and let’s face it, it rarely slows down until you say “I do.” As your hairstylist, I’ve witnessed some common mistakes during those early morning hours on wedding days.

Being Glued To Your Phone

As challenging as it may sound, trust me, stashing your device away or leaving it with an attendant will make the experience far more enjoyable. This is a monumental moment in your life—be present! Soak up each moment while getting glam with your closest friends by your side. Delegate everything else to make your day as magical as possible. Pro tip: have your bridesmaids capture candid moments on your phone, creating memories before your professional photos arrive.

You Don’t Have a Beauty Itinerary

This matters, trust me! Anytime your Hair and makeup artists are randomly calling out “Who’s next?!” chaos is sure to follow. Examples include someone being in the bathroom, bridesmaids unable to decide who goes first, or the bride needing makeup while the artist is still working on another girl who needed to finish her mimosa. One thing leads to another, and before you know it, the wedding party is running 30 minutes behind for the photographer. This is preventable stress! Plan ahead, create a schedule of who gets what service when, ensuring all members of the party can be serviced in a timely manner, keeping the morning relaxing.

*Pro tip: I always create a beauty itinerary for my clients free of charge because it matters that much. All that is needed is the size of your wedding party, the number of Hair and makeup artists, and what time everyone needs to be ready! Easy peasy—I take the hassle off your hands.

Skipping Breakfast and Water

Your wedding day may be the longest (and sweetest) day of your life, but it can be exhausting. Stay hydrated – it’s essential for your well-being and provides the best canvas for your makeup. Don’t skip breakfast; opt for easy, bite-sized snacks that won’t smudge your makeup. Think fruit, mini danishes, pinwheels, cheese, and crackers – quick, mess-free options to keep you fueled and feeling your best throughout the day. You’ll thank yourself later!
